The Acropolis of Athens by Spencer Davis

The Acropolis of Athens

The cradle of democracy teamed up with a stunning view across Athens.

Build more than 2600 years ago the Acropolis perches over Athens. Build entirely from polished white marble, the bright Parthenon is visible from almost everywhere in the capital. Once you hiked up to the cradle of democracy, you have a stunning view across the city of Athens. The most beautiful approach is through the ancient white-blue houses of the Anafiotika neighborhood on the northeastern slopes.

Keep in mind to bring your camera and enough water. International Students are eligible for the reduced entrance while students from the European Union get free admission. Unfortunately, they will not accept your ISIC-Card - you need to show your university’s student ID.

If you do not qualify for free entry, you can visit on the “free admission days”:
6 March, 18 April, 18 May, the last weekend of September, 28 October and every first Sunday from November 1st to March 31st.

For the most scenic view, head up to Lycabettus hill. You can take a picture with the fantastic white marbles of the Acropolis gleaming in the sun against the perfect backdrop of the deep blue mediterranean sea.
